every so often it will work....but every so often i mean once in maybe 2-3-4 months! any ideas? gas will work if i can get it to...speedometer works well and so does the temp gauge. same with Km's and all the lights...

First make sure the blue and the white tab wires are plugged in the back of the cluster. On the back of the cluster you will see Blaue(blue) and weiss(white) (something like that) if they are plugged in is a very very very good chance the SI board is corroded from the batteries and you should change it. Just because your speedo fuel and temp is working does not mean the SI board is not the problem with the tach.
