The M5 and 550i are monsters, don't know what you are talking about.

The 128i and 135i are new for 2009 in North America. The are smaller, lighter, and more agile than the 3 series, but have the same engines.

The 135i will be a monster with that 300 hp twin turbo I-6. A new ECU and it's easily at 400 hp.

They probably won't offer diesel or 4-cylinders in them until the 2011 model year. Personally, I don't understand why you'd get a 4-cylinder BMW, but that's just me.

Who cares if u are going to buy a BMW why would you buy 1 series or even a 3 series for that matter. Get a 5 series or up.
6 cylinder in both. No diesel engine vehicles have been announced yet for this year (although they keep saying that they will release them).
