i want to know which year is best in m3 e46?because perople say 2001 upto 2003 the engine is not good.so i want to know wheather is it right or wrong.

E46 was the most powerful engine to a m3 had the first years might no be the best years to buy but it is a great engine still in use by the Z4M

the s54 engine in the years mentioned had issues with the engine main bearings failing due to excessive torsional flex in the crankshaft. of course a factory recall was done at great expense th bmw, and anyone with an m3 with less then 100k miles could get it done at no cost. most m3's have had this work. only some of the engines were affected by this, somewhere in the neighborhood of 5%, but enough to do a recall. the s54 is an outstanding engine even so.
