2008 BMW M Coupe or Roadster, do they come with smg; does smg drive like an automatic too?

Beg to differ with the above answer - the M roadster/coupe does not come with an SMG transmission. It does have an automatic with paddle shifters, which is decidedly not the same as SMG. To compare an SMG with an automatic is a mistake. SMG is a true manual transmission that happens to have a mode that will make shifts for you, but most of us with SMG don't like that mode because it is not smooth unless you're "performance" driving. It's not a good substitute for an auto tranny, so if that's what you're looking for, don't get SMG. Google it and do your own research, but it may be moot for you since it is not available on the M Roadster or Coupe. Try this: http://www.m3smg.com/index.html

Yes and yes. The SMG is basically a hybrid between a manual and auto trans. It can be driven in full auto mode, or you can choose to shift with the paddles on your own.

Actually, I was wrong, the M Coupe and Roadster only come with a manual. I was thinking of the M3, M5, and M6.
