Hello there,

There are many reasons why an engine can over heat, it must be diagnoised in regard to the actual condition and situation when it overheated.

I beleive, you have visited an authorized BMW service center to replace the water pump and the thermostat. If yes, then they must have checked the function of the additional fan which is meant to cool the engine. If every thing is ok, its probably a crack in the cylinder head gastet or in worse case the cylinder head from which the water may enter into the cylinders or elsewhere. Easy way to observe this is to check the engine oil via the dip stick and the open the caps of the engine and the antifreeze. Be careful it might be very hot and under certain pressure!!! do it in the monring before you start the vehicle.

More information will be followed by your feedback.

For example:

1. What is the present mileage?

2. In which country you drive the vehicle (i.e. tropical)?

3. Did you observe the overheating and stop the vehicle or you recognize the overheating after a smoke or even the engine cuts-off itself?

Radiator is next on the list.
/ Have the radiator flushed and refilled by a technician who can diagnose any trouble along the way.
Probs air in the cooling system you' need to bleed the raidator. the should be a bleed valve next to the radiator cap.

start the car and open the valve air should be comming out until water starts comming out.

Or you can open the rad cap and the bleed cap and keep pouring water into the rad resivour until water comes out to the bleed valve.

This is a common issue on BMW's.
