A bmw e32, 34 or e36...which one!!!?

i have the option to buy an e36 (3 SERIES) manual from 1994 round about

an e34 (5 series) from 1990 manual

or an e32 (7 series) from around 88-90

which one should i buy considering fuel costs, dont want anything too powerful, possible availability of spare parts in the future and most important is reliabality!

i have an e30 318i at the moment but its awefully basic. i know 3 series's are and 5 series is better and so on but i dont know which one to buy as thre all around the same price

Each has its own set of quirks. E36s, for instance, tend to have faults in their climate controls and some head cracking issues (BMW messed around with magnesium alloys). Most BMWs also have water pump issues (plastic vs. stainless vs. different plastic) from time to time.

Personally I'd go for an E36, as parts are more readily available. E30s are easier to work on if you're so inclined.

As far as a choice between a 3 and 5 series, there is a huge difference in feel. 3 series are more driver-centric and offer a more connected, sports coupe feel. 5 series are definitely a sedan-ish feel - roomier, less connected, less fun to toss around. Apples and Oranges.

34
I've owned 4 BMW's. I have a 34 now... a 95 525 but with an automatic. I believe the resale value of the automatic is higher than the stick shift, but stick are sportier. The cooling system is a pain in the 34's. It's got issues with air in the cooling system and it's tough to get it bled properly.
newer the better. e36. don't get old. just have alot of problems and you pay way to much in the end.

e46 would be better :)
