What would I need, is it a 1 or 2 persons job and how much time. My car just broke down on the highway. :-(

Transmission shaft? What the heck is that and what make you think it is broken? Drive shaft takes about 2 - 3 hours (need to remove exhaust first) to remove if that is what you are talking about. The method of removal is slightly different between the automatic and manual transmission.
