2001 BMW 740iL Radio and Navigation Problems?

My Navigation screen just gets a white screen now. I cant see anything on it. Also when I play the radio it plays for 5 minutes then dies out. If I turn it off then turn it back on it will play again.

Any ideas on these? Could it be a fuse? Where are the fuses located?

Always check the CD inserted in your navigation computer to make sure it is clean and free of dust or fingerprints. If it is a burned copy, this may cause problems. Also, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if that clears the problem. If you have the navigation computer with only one LED instead of two, it is important to close all doors, open the trunk and wait until the navigation computer's LED turns off before disconnecting the negative cable.

If the problem remains, your navigation computer has most-likely failed. The good news is there is a plentiful supply of them on eBay at reasonable prices. Once you purchase a new computer, it can be easily installed using Ford-Style radio removal tools to slide the old unit out, unhook the connectors and reinstall. You then should take the car to the dealership to have the replacement computer "coded" to your 7 Series so it will respond to your cars other modules and speed sensors correctly.

Obviously, this is not a set-in-stone diagnosis since there are several components to the Navigation and Audio system but since you mentioned the radio turning off after 5 minutes, the navigation computer is most likely to blame for this problem.
