E36 BMW M3 Rear Window Heater Question?

Just bought one of these and I think the rear window heater is broken. Upon operation you can see that only one of the wires (closest to the base of the window) appears to be heating up. Is there any way I can fix this or is it a lost cause?

Also, above the centre brake light in the rear window looks to be a vent, should this also be supplying the rear window with heat as its not!

You can get (Halfords) a sort of paint to bridge broken elements, but it's a bugg*r to do with any degree of accuracy and neatness. Apart from anything else you need microscopic vision to find the breaks.

Don't know that particular model, but I suspect the vent above the window is actually part of the ventilation system and is to allow the air in the car to escape, aiding the "throughflow".

Yes you can fix the heater, go to your local motor parts store and ask them for the heater repair fluid. It comes in a little bottle with a small paint brush, the "Paint" in the bottle is metallic and when painted on to the heater allows the current to flow.

You will need to examine the heater and try to find were the breaks in the "Wire" are.

Ja.
