1992 BMW 325is 'SRS' light.?hijackthis

a srs light flashing is informing you that your cars airbag system is faulty and will not deploy in the event of a crash.because your cars srs light is on (or flashing) this is telling you that your cars ecu(or computer)has logged a fault code and disabled the airbag system. What you need to do is seek out a good technician with a diagnostic scanner suitable for bmw. This will instantly tell you what fault has been recorded by the ecu and a proper repair can be made to restore the airbag system.the noise from your steering column may well be the cause of this particular situation as ther are many sensors allover your car (and yes there are sensors in your steering column) desighned to recognise a crash situation and deploy the airbag.i doubt your ignition problem contributed to this problem unless it was some form of faulty wirring causing short circuits but more then likely just coinsidental. My professinal opinion is the noise in your steering column is directly to blame for your airbag system failure.although it should be repaired this airbag light on should not interfear with normal driving, performance,or any other of your cars systems.but please remember in a crash your airbag WILL NOT WORK.also if you live in n.s.w Australia a airbag light on is a reject for your annual roadworthy certificate required for registration.hope this helps you.
